Edgar Marie’s Paris Countdown: The perilous world of night owls

Scriptwriter Edgar Marie (A Gang Story, Braquo) steps behind the camera for Paris Countdown, a Franco-Belgian thriller lasting 92 minutes, bringing together a cast comprising Olivier Marchal (Jo’s Boy), Jacques Gamblin (nominated in 2009 and 2011 for a César for Best Actor for The First Day of the Rest of Your Life and The Names of Love), Carlo Brandt (Last Winter, 17 Girls), Reda Kateb (A Prophet, Coming Home), Anne Charrier and Laure Marsac

Written by the director, the screenplay revolves around Milan and Victor, two nightclub owners in Paris who have known each other forever, but have fallen out of touch. But the return of Serki, a dangerous psychopath, brings bad memories back to the surface. At a time when business was plummeting, Milan and Victor had accepted a nasty deal that saw Serki wind up in prison in Mexico. If he has come back, it’s for revenge. The two old friends will have to make their way through a torrid night together to find a solution to their problem. But the world that surrounds them has changed. They are disconnected from their own universe. During the night, they will discover how rotten their friendship has become and will re-evaluate the lies polluting their existence. Between pay-backs and the looming threat of death, Milan and Victor will have to make life-changing choices, choices that will implicate their values, their families and the 30 years of friendship between them.

Released on French screens in the summer of 2013, Paris Countdown is available via VoD (the Men on the Edge catalogue) from 22 April in Spain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the UK, Ireland, Finland and Hungary.
